At Caesars in Atlantic City the woman next to me at the blackjack table asked what the proper play should be with the two fours she was dealt. The dealer had a six as his upcard. Would you know the correct answer? Read on and we’ll get to it.
Let’s face the truth. You won’t be dealt pairs very often, but when you get them you want to play them properly. The strategy outlined here works for Atlantic City blackjack 먹튀폴리스. You make very minor adjustments for playing in other casinos with different rules.
Starting at the top. You get lucky and a pair of aces turn up. Your correct play? Always split them regardless of the dealer’s upcard. How about a pair of tens? Stand. You have an excellent hand with twenty points. Let the dealer try to beat that. Don’t ever split and make a rookie mistake.
A pair of nines is tricky. You have eighteen points – not a bad hand. Split them when facing every dealer upcard except a seven; where you stand. You have beaten his probable seventeen. If the dealer shows a ten-count card or an ace, don’t split, stand. You’re liable to lose two bets if you split.
Eights – always split them. Sevens should be split facing a dealer’s two through seven. If dealer has an eight, nine, ten-card, or ace, he shows power and you should hit. Sixes are weak; you have a total of twelve points. Split them if the dealer’s upcard is two through six. If the dealer’s sports a seven, eight, nine, ten-card, or ace, you shouldn’t split, just hit and hope.
If you are dealt a pair of fives, never split them. Treat them as you would any hard ten (see my article Winning Blackjack – Playing Hard Hands Properly on this site for the details), double down if dealer’s upcard is two through nine, and hit if dealer shows a ten-card, or ace.
Next we come to those fours we mentioned above. The correct play for a pair of fours is to split them if the dealer has a five or six showing (he’s as weak as he can get, and we’re counting on him to bust), otherwise hit. Twos and threes should be split if the dealer shows two through seven, otherwise hit.
